No animals should die in a war!
#UkraineAnimals continue to need our help!
ROLDA is an internationally supported charity working in Romania to solve the appalling problem of the country’s estimated millions of homeless animals in a humane, efficient and responsible manner. Our six keys focuses are: rescue, rehabilitation, sheltering, sterilisation, social programmes and education. We have a strict no-kill policy. ROLDA UK works to help ROLDA Romania to achieve these goals, by attracting donations and rehoming rescued stray dogs where possible. With an overwhelming number of stray dogs, ROLDA UK needs as much help as possible to make sure these poor animals are given the home they deserve.

Celia is a round animal-lover having been ‘mum’ to three beautiful cats – Amy, Beasty and Rafa plus two hamsters – Fizzy and Tango – and thanks to her son who studied Zoology at university and smuggled various animals into his bedroom, various bearded dragons, snakes, poison dart frogs, a goliath frog, terrapins, various tortoises and a tarantula!
At the beginning of the war in Ukraine, Celia sat outside her local Tesco for around two weeks asking people to donate cat and dog food urgently. As well as food, people were very generous and gave money, pet carriers and accessories as well. In all around £5,000 worth of food was sent to Ukraine via local British saviours going out to help.
Since February 2022 Celia has also organized several online auctions and every other month holds a quiz night for ROLDA UK. Celia liked the way ROLDA operates so much that she is now a volunteer bid-writer for the charity and is hoping to raise some large money for our PawzUp rescue project so watch this space!
It all began with Printz, the German Shepherd Dana Costin found abandoned in her local park. He had been in a dog fight and was terribly wounded. Dana carried him back to her parent’s apartment where, with love and rehabilitation, he made a full recovery. Due to aggressive behavior from his many dog fights, Dana was unable to personally rescue another dog until he passed in 2002, but saving this soul sparked a desire to help more suffering strays and she worked tirelessly to persuade friends and family to lend her their homes and gardens to provide safe shelter for any stray that needed her.
